What is Sermorelin?
Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino acid peptide corresponding to the N-terminal active fragment of human Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH 1-29). The minimal active sequence of GHRH that retains full GH secretagogue activity — binds the GHRH receptor on anterior pituitary somatotrophs to stimulate pulsatile GH release and downstream IGF-1 production. Shorter half-life than full GHRH (44 amino acids) enables precise timing studies of GH pulse dynamics. Research use only.
Research Applications
GH Pulse Stimulation
Pituitary somatotroph activation, GH secretion amplitude and frequency modulation
GHRH Receptor Pharmacology
Receptor binding kinetics, cAMP/PKA signalling, receptor desensitisation studies
IGF-1 Axis Research
Hepatic IGF-1 production, somatomedin signalling, tissue anabolic response
Somatopause & GH Decline
Age-related GH axis attenuation, sermorelin vs GHRH comparison, therapeutic window
Minimal Active Sequence Studies
GHRH(1-29) vs full-length GHRH pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic comparison
