What are Orforglipron?
Orforglipron is an orally bioavailable, non-peptide glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Unlike injectable GLP-1 analog peptides, orforglipron is a small molecule designed for oral administration while maintaining selective activation of the GLP-1 receptor.
GLP-1 receptor activation influences glucose-dependent insulin secretion, appetite regulation, gastric emptying, and metabolic signaling pathways. Because it is not a peptide, orforglipron does not require injection and is structurally distinct from compounds like semaglutide.
It is currently under clinical investigation for metabolic and weight-related conditions.
