What is HCG?
HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin — LH receptor agonist) is a Glycoprotein hormone (alpha: 92aa + beta: 145aa + C-terminal extension). Glycoprotein hormone activating LH receptor (LHCGR) — structurally identical alpha subunit to LH, with unique beta-subunit C-terminal extension extending half-life (36hr vs 2hr for LH). Stimulates Leydig cell testosterone, Sertoli cell function, spermatogenesis maintenance, and corpus luteum progesterone.
Research Applications
LHCGR Pharmacology
LH receptor kinetics, cAMP cascade, steroidogenic enzyme upregulation
Leydig Cell Research
Testicular testosterone production, StAR protein, CYP17A1
Spermatogenesis
Sertoli cell support, BTB maintenance, sperm maturation
Female Reproductive
Corpus luteum progesterone, ovulation trigger, follicle research
