What is DSIP??
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, CAS 62568-57-4) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood during slow-wave sleep. Molecular formula C₃₅H₄₈N₁₀O₁₅, MW 848.82 g/mol. DSIP modulates delta-wave (slow-wave) sleep patterns, suppresses somatostatin, and influences the HPA axis — reducing ACTH, corticotrophin, and stress-related LH, FSH and GH secretion in preclinical models. Research also examines its antioxidant, anti-nociceptive, and anti-stress properties.
Research Applications
Sleep Architecture
Delta-wave (slow-wave) EEG modulation, NREM sleep stage analysis in rodent models
Neuroendocrine Axis
HPA axis modulation, ACTH/corticotrophin suppression, somatostatin inhibition, GH/LH/FSH effects
Stress Response
Anti-stress peptide profiling, glucocorticoid feedback modulation
Antioxidant Research
Free radical scavenging, lipid peroxidation, oxidative stress marker modulation
Pain & Anti-Nociception
Analgesic properties in hot-plate and formalin test models, opioid interaction studies
