What is Cardiogen??
Cardiogen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg, AEDR) is a synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator developed by Prof. Vladimir Khavinson’s team at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It belongs to the Cytogen family of synthetic Khavinson peptides – precise copies of the active site sequences found in cardiac tissue extracts. Cardiogen is investigated for its tissue-specific ability to penetrate to the cell nucleus and interact with DNA promoter regions in cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts – modulating gene expression programs linked to myocardial repair, protein synthesis restoration, fibrosis-associated ECM remodelling, and apoptosis regulation. Research applications span post-infarction remodelling, hypertension-induced cardiac hypertrophy, and fibroblast signalling relevant to both cardiac and prostate tissue microenvironments.
