What is BAM15?
BAM15 is a protonophore that dissipates the mitochondrial proton gradient — uncoupling OXPHOS from ATP synthesis and driving energy dissipation as heat. Critically, BAM15 does not penetrate the plasma membrane and does not cause hyperthermia in vivo — the primary safety limitation of classical uncouplers (DNP). Romero et al. 2020: fat mass reduction and improved insulin sensitivity in DIO mice without hyperthermia. CAS 2061936-25-0.
