What is BAM15?
BAM15 is a mitochondria-targeted protonophore that selectively uncouples inner mitochondrial membrane proton transport without affecting plasma membrane potential. Provides mitochondrial uncoupling with a wider safety margin than DNP — does not affect blood pressure or cause hyperthermia at metabolically active doses. Research tool for selective mitochondrial uncoupling. Research use only.
Research Applications
Selective Mitochondrial Uncoupling
Mitochondria-specific protonophore — uncoupling without plasma membrane effects
BAM15 vs DNP Safety Profile
Wider therapeutic index — comparable uncoupling without hyperthermia risk
Mitochondrial Proton Leak
State 4 respiration, proton conductance, ΔΨm dissipation quantification
Metabolic Rate Research
Energy expenditure upregulation, oxygen consumption rate (OCR), substrate oxidation
Obesity & Metabolic Models
BAM15-driven fat oxidation, insulin sensitisation, adipose tissue browning
