What is Adipotide?
Adipotide (also known as FTPP – Fat-Targeted Proapoptotic Peptide) is an experimental peptidomimetic designed to selectively target and induce apoptosis in the blood vessels supplying white adipose tissue. It binds to specific receptors expressed in adipose vasculature, triggering mitochondrial disruption and programmed cell death in fat-associated endothelial cells.
Unlike lipolytic peptides that stimulate fat breakdown, Adipotide has been studied in preclinical models for its ability to reduce fat mass by targeting the vascular support system of adipose tissue. Research has primarily been conducted in animal models investigating obesity and metabolic disease mechanisms.
