What is Adipotide 2mg?
Adipotide (FTPP — Prohibitin-targeting peptide) is a chimeric proapoptotic peptide that selectively targets the vasculature feeding white adipose tissue. The peptide binds prohibitin on adipose endothelial cells, disrupting mitochondrial function and inducing apoptosis specifically in adipose-feeding blood vessels, causing adipose regression without affecting other tissues. First characterised in NHP (non-human primate) models where it produced substantial fat mass reduction.
Research Applications
White Adipose Vascular Targeting
Selective apoptosis induction in adipose vasculature via prohibitin binding. Research models: DIO rodents, NHP obesity models. Readouts: fat mass (EchoMRI), adipose vascular density, prohibitin expression.
Obesity Pharmacology — Non-GLP-1 Mechanism
Adipotide provides a mechanistically distinct alternative to GLP-1 agonism for obesity research — direct vascular targeting rather than appetite suppression. Enables comparison studies.
Prohibitin Biology Research
Prohibitin (PHB) is expressed on adipose endothelial cells but not other vascular beds. Adipotide exploits this specificity — relevant to PHB receptor biology and targeted delivery research.
