What is Dihexa?
Dihexa (PNB-0408, N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6) aminohexanoic amide) is an angiotensin IV analogue that potently activates the HGF/c-Met receptor signalling pathway — reported to be ~10⁷× more potent than BDNF in synaptogenesis assays. HGF/c-Met activation promotes dendritic spine formation, hippocampal synaptic density, and neuronal repair. Studied as a cognitive enhancer, synaptogenic agent, and neurodegeneration research tool. Research use only.
Research Applications
HGF/c-Met Receptor Signalling
c-Met activation, downstream ERK/PI3K/Akt cascades, receptor specificity
Synaptogenesis Research
Dendritic spine density, synapse formation, pre/postsynaptic marker expression
Cognitive Enhancement Models
Morris water maze, novel object recognition, Barnes maze — hippocampal-dependent learning
Neurodegeneration Research
Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, TBI models — synaptic density preservation
BDNF Pathway Comparison
Dihexa vs BDNF, NGF — synaptogenesis potency, receptor pathway overlap
