What is Teriparatide?
Teriparatide is the biologically active N-terminal 34-amino acid fragment of human parathyroid hormone (PTH 1-34). Binds PTH1R to activate adenylyl cyclase and PKC pathways, stimulating osteoblastogenesis and bone matrix deposition. Studied as an anabolic bone agent in osteoporosis research. Research use only.
Research Applications
Anabolic Bone Formation
Osteoblast proliferation, bone matrix synthesis, trabecular architecture
PTH1R Signalling
cAMP/PKA and PKC pathways, receptor internalisation, downstream targets
Osteoporosis Models
OVX models, glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, fracture healing
Calcium Homeostasis
Renal calcium reabsorption, 1,25(OH)₂D₃ synthesis, serum calcium dynamics
Osteocyte & Osteoclast Research
RANKL/OPG balance, bone remodelling cycle, sclerostin interaction
