What is AHK-Cu??
AHK-Cu (Alanine-Histidine-Lysine Copper Tripeptide-3, CAS 49557-75-7) is a synthetic copper-binding tripeptide specifically engineered to target hair follicle signalling. Unlike the naturally occurring GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1), AHK-Cu is lab-designed with superior copper-binding stability and a more follicle-directed mechanism — stimulating dermal papilla cells, promoting VEGF-mediated angiogenesis around the follicle, and extending the anagen (growth) phase. It also retains collagen and elastin synthesis activity relevant to skin remodelling research.
Research Applications
Hair Follicle Biology
Dermal papilla cell stimulation, anagen/telogen ratio modulation, follicular VEGF upregulation
Scalp Angiogenesis
Perifollicular blood vessel formation, nutrient delivery pathway research
Skin Remodelling
Fibroblast collagen and elastin synthesis, ECM metalloproteinase/inhibitor balance
Copper Homeostasis
Cu²⁺ chelation dynamics, lysyl oxidase cofactor activity, redox signalling
Anti-Inflammatory
TNF-α/IL-6 modulation in dermal fibroblast models, wound healing cascade
