What is PT-141?

PT-141 (Bremelanotide — MC4R-preferring melanocortin agonist) is a 7-amino acid cyclic peptide (Melanotan II metabolite). Melanotan II metabolite with preferential MC4R activity over MC1R. Lacks the cyclic structure producing significant tanning (MC1R) activation, making it more selective for CNS MC4R pathways involved in sexual function and appetite. Acts centrally rather than via vascular mechanisms.
