What is 5-Amino-1MQ 5mg?
5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a selective, cell-permeable inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). By blocking NNMT, it prevents the methylation and disposal of nicotinamide, raising intracellular NAD+ levels and activating SIRT1-mediated fat oxidation. Research applications include obesity, metabolic syndrome, and adipocyte biology.
Research Applications
Fat Oxidation & Adipocyte Research
NNMT inhibition reduces adipogenesis and promotes lipolysis in white adipose tissue. 3T3-L1 cell model standard for evaluating anti-obesity activity.
NAD+ / SIRT1 Pathway Research
Raising intracellular NAD+ activates sirtuins (SIRT1, SIRT3) — links to longevity, mitochondrial biogenesis, and glucose metabolism pathways.
Metabolic Syndrome Models
DIO mouse models: 5-Amino-1MQ reduces fat mass and improves insulin sensitivity without affecting food intake — distinct from appetite-suppression mechanisms.
